In this episode of The Talent Tango, we’re speaking to Amanda Gerhardt-King. 

Amanda is the Director of Talent Acquisition at CB Insights, an intelligence platform that analyzes millions of data points on venture capital, startups, patents, partnerships and news mentions to forecast technology trends.

Since joining their Talent Acquisition team, Amanda has seen CB Insights scale from 60 to 250 employees. Anticipating to add about 70 new people to the company before the end of 2019, she leverages unique communication and organization strategies to get the job done.

Amanda is a seasoned talent acquisition specialist with a background in both agency and in-house experience. In her current position, she manages a team of eight dedicated to hiring candidates who are ‘Happy, Helpful, Humble and Hungry’. These “Four H’s” aren’t just the hiring criteria: they’re also at the core of CB Insights itself. 

In this episode, Amanda shares how she incorporates company culture into the hiring process, including her process for promoting CB Insight’s employer brand. This includes putting her own recruiters through, ‘Unicorn Training’, a process designed to increase productivity and reduce the quality issues that come with too much multitasking. As the Director of Talent Acquisition, Amanda also works on forecasting and budgeting for headcounts. Her day-to-day gives you an insight into what it takes to scale and manage everything talent acquisition at a growing startup.
